Testing in Spain (6th-8th March)

I shipped the ZX10r over with DIXON Transport and joined other racers in what was a great and insightful three days of track riding. The weather was quite variable as it rained on our arrival but began to clear up as the week went on with just a few light showers in between. I had the pleasure of testing with other excellent riders and great company.

I started off with no adjustments to the bike as I wanted to get my bearings on the track and see what exactly needed to be tweaked in order to gain the best speed and track times possible.

I started hitting 1:53's the first morning and as I learned the track I began correcting details on the bike that I felt would make a difference to how it handled the late apexes, chicanes and short straights. I adjusted the height of the fork seals, changed the tyre pressure, widened the handle bars and made some other alterations and noticed my times started to drop dramatically over the course of testing. By the final session of our last day I was hitting consistent 1:40's which I was very pleased with as it was a significant drop in times and I learned more about the mechanics of the bike and its requirements for certain areas of the track.

I now have some work to do with the suspension and other areas of the bike to get it completely ready for the first round of the Masters but I'm feeling confident after the last week!

Just a quick thanks to DIXON Transport for carrying the bike there, to my sponsors for their continued interest in my ventures and to my family and friends supporting me both at home and abroad. I really appreciate it.

Here's to a successful first round of the Masters. Hope to see you all there!
